Not that I don't love LSx's, but that car would look great parked next to my Skylark haha
Ok I take it back, I am a fan of one car made in the 80's...

if you saw one of these in your rearview mirror trying to pull you over, would you stop, or just keep going and laugh as you left it in the dust?

That's a K-car, right???

The old Dodge Diplomats were kind of cool, slow, but simple, well built, and durable under police use.

well for one reason, the way my car sits, it was almost considered "heavy custom" at the trans am nationals in 08. I had to protest this to get back into the modified class, which i then took second place in in 09.

while wheels, ram air, a hood, and what not are maybe not very big performance mods, they are mods none the less. my car has changed a lot since i bought it in 2004.

It actually now also has a magnaflow muffler but i didn't change the sig for that, lol.

Oh, when you said OEM hood, I thought you meant it cam with it...
That is a worthwhile mod, my bad.
So it's ram air, K&N filter, and muffler for performance mods.

yeah by oem i mean that its a real GM hood and not one of those 3rd party knockoffs. it didn't come on my car stock. the airbox is also a real GM piece as well.

That's what I'm wondering. Maybe because it's not just about performance, but also about appearance. Wheels, hood, intake, muffler...modified, yes; heavily modified, hardly.

by their rules a major body mod = heavy custom (or 16+ regular mods) It was either due to the hood itself, or the "any engine not available that year" i remember the guy saying "what you've done woud be like changing a regular 455 motor out for a 455 SD" which i said i didn't get because all i did was change the intake and that a 96-97 WS6 is just an LT1 car with ram air, not a different engine.

they tried to say that by their rules my car was heavy custom for the hood. i protested saying it was a bolt on mod and should only be counted twords the 5 or so mods i had which put me in modified or maybe heavy modified. this was further supported when i went over to the heavy custom area which incidently was right across from the winners circle and there was a guy who had a 94 Trans Am with the same hood/airbox who had won modified the year before. he was also a former judge. he helped me get my car back into modified.

they said that if my car had been a 96 or 97 it would be a mod, but since the hood wasn't technically available on a 95 T/A it was considered a major change. they wouldn't count the Comp T/A (which came out in 95) because that was a seperate SLP model.

The interesting thing was that once i moved to the modified class, there were 2 or 3 other 93-95 T/A's with the same LT1 WS6 hood. This year, one of those cars ended up in the stock class. a 95 formula Vert with a WS6 hood/airbox (the SLP one actually because the gasket wasn't on the box) i thought it was funny but i didn't care much because i didn't want another car to compete against. there were ~ 6 cars in my class this year and like 10-15 last year.

A stock car there = stock. no tint, no aftermarket radio (although i think they changed that rule)

here's their definitions btw

My car sits right at the borderline between modified and heavy modified.
