I have never filled up with Shell!!!

And typically filled when the tank was on a 1/4...

Wow. Usually they say to use a bottle of Techron to help against the build-up of sulphur in the gasoline.

Was it a straight out rock or mineral build-up? I tought every pump has a filter.

Tier 1: Chevron, Mobil
Tier 2: 76, Shell
Tier 3: All the rest (including Arco, Velero, etc)

I only use Tier 3 if I'm past E and riding on fumes. I usually hold out til I find a Chevron, and I always use 91.

Most of the cars on this forums are ls1 so we have to put 91. So you're not impressing anyone with I only use 91 with my lt1.... lol

Chevron for me and my whole family. It seems to give me the most mpg and that's based on my Toyota cuz in the Camaro my driving habbits are so whack I always get shitty gas mileage.

You do realize that a LT1 has a higher CR than a LS1.

I use whatever is closest to me at the cheapest price. My car has never seen a decrease or increase in MPG's no matter what gas I use. Even if it's Abdul's. The same with performance.

Sometimes I think it's all in people's heads the MPG or performance increase or decrease. It may be they want to feel better when the spend that extra money on the special gas with the special additive. Regardless, I've had multiple cars go past the 100,000 mile mark with the way I choose gas.

Regulations probably keep the quality of gas pretty even between all dispensers, regardless of who you go with. Abdul's gas is just cheaper because they have a smaller gas station so maybe less rent??? And no advertisement or marketing costs. Arco has other ways to keep their gas prices lower than most. That ATM fee comes up as one of those ways.

Pick what you want to pick though. It's your money and your rationalizations. This is just mine

Yeah man, but doesn't GM still recommend you use Premium which can range between 91 and 93, on an LS1. Depends on the place. I can only find 91. So, an LS1 still uses Premium.

I use Chevron but occassionally get half 76 and half Mobil because my car feels and acts faster, just a tiny bit but still noticable under the pedal, just a bit seriously. Maybe its the station I get it from...

I only go to Costco unless im running low and wont make it home so ill stop at shell/mobile/chevron ect...

But i use Costco because I have the American express through them and its 3% cash back. Gas is gas when it comes down to it, some more dirty than others but thats why we have fuel filters and sea foam.

True. When you add those $0.45 atm fee from Arco its not as cheap as you think. It makes up for those few cents difference unless youre filling up an 18 wheeler.

LOL.

I use Mobil, Chevron, Shell, 76, and Costco in both my BMW and Trans Am. I tried Valero and Citgo and must tell you my cars felt different under the pedal.

I believe most of the car companies test with Cheveron for emissions & MPG. Cheveron is also a CA based company started above LA and based in San Fransisco until they moved to San Ramon. They also supply Texaco.

Exxon owns Exxon and Mobil, BP owns BP & Arco, Conoco owns 76 ,Union 66 & Jet, Shell own Shell.lol.

So if you want to buy in an American based Co. Cheveron is it. I personaly split between Cheveron & Shell because they have the best quality.
I don't but Mobil or Exxon because they seem to drive up the cost of fuel 1st before anyone else and shows with there net income of over 40 billion compared to Shell next at 27 billion.

you do realize that a lt1's have reverse cooling system versus the ls1 standard cooling, which means the combustion chambers get cooled first which in turn helps with detonation, but honestly the difference is minuite, therefore with the difference in compression in the two motor (ls1 10.1, lt1 10.5) and differences in cooling systems, the either cars ability to resist detonation is a wash.....

most all the gas's i have found are the same...... but i have found bad cases of detonation with arco and valero..... i believe it is because they simply dont maintain the tanks as well.... all these people saying they can feel a difference in the gas its most likely in your head, unless the car is detonating or you got pure water from the station

^^^This I know, I was mearly responding to his comment that the LS1 has a 10.1:1 CR. Sounded like he was trying to say that LT1's were low compression, regardless of the reverse flow cooling.
