Default What on earth happened?

To the DMV?!?!

I go to register my '98 z28 i bought less than a month ago..the tags are only one month expired. So for the registration, transfer of title, $38 late fee, and all the other lil crap CA charges for..it's a total of $331 dollars!! Wtf? And on the bill of sale i put that i bought the car for only $800. Did the registration fees really go up that much?

I just paid the tags on my '02 WS6 and it was $280 with personalized plates so if you add you sales tax ($70) & the late fee (???) & the $38 charge that's about the same.

^ Couldn't have said it better myself lol. I'm sure you guys heard that social security is going to run out by 2047, just in time for many of us on here to retire. They "borrowed" all the funds from all these years for other "needs". So in a nutshell, we are all paying 6.2% of everything we earn for nothing. Complete garbage and extortion.

Don't forget that they have raised the estimated amount needed for a secure retirement to 3 million. Start saving up.

Obviously, they didn't base the price of registration on your stated sale price.

ya there seems to be a lot of misc. fees from the DMV lately... the registration/sales tax for transfer of ownership of a vehicle seemed to be higher than usual

WTF..no offense to you guys but Cali needs to break off and float away..move out before it does..lol

I pay $23 for my Camaro and $27 for my truck in Arkansas. If you are a resident you have to pay some bullshit yearly payment on it..not too sure about that one, I'm not a resident.

Ok so I got some more clarification on my fees, apparently around 130-150 of my fees were because the tags were expired and because I bought the car after the tags were expired. Still a bunch of bs though

That leaves $181-201 for registration. Don't remember what I paid last time, we'll see in 6 months how much it will cost me now with my personalized plate.

I sat in the DMV for 4 hours the other day... and they wanted us to pay $2600 in "sales tax" on the fiances new Sky Redline that we bought in AZ!!! I'm like why the **** would we pay sales tax on it "AGAIN"!!! They told me that since the car is less than a year old CA has to collect sales tax on it in order to register it here. After me telling them to basically go **** themselves and a few words to the DMV manager, they knocked it down to $600 which I still don't think is right. We ALREADY PAID SALES TAX on the damn car in AZ!!!

Now they want her to come in and "update" her license photo... so we get to sit in there for another 4 ******* hours and waste our time...

I'm seriously at the point where I'm about to say screw it, and they can kiss my ***... if they wanna give me a ticket, throw me in jail or whatever they can... Because the amount of money and time to take care of their bullshit is just about worth it... Hell what am I saying, they just let 750 inmates go free, why would they spend the money to keep my *** in jail!!!!!

seriously **** THIS STATE!!!.... first chance I get, I'm moving the hell out of here. I'm thinking Colorado...

now... lemme tell you how I really feel

Yeah this state is jacked, but you gotta ask yourself...why are so many people here? There must be a reason... I like CA all things considering. But I've only lived in three states (HI, WA, CA).
