Some of you may recognize this car
the car came to us partially stripped down with two damaged quarter panels from some tire shake during some passes. Bowman came us with a MBZ color and asked us to have the car out and sprayed in 2 weeks. Most of you, who've dealed with body shops know this is somewhat unheard of. You've seen cars at the body shop for just resprays with no body work in single color schemes take 1-2 months to get painted. We got the job done in only 1.5 weeks. Normally, this would be a 3 week job but knowing the urgency of the car being able to race at events and some careful scheduling, we were able to get the car done and get it done right.
If any of you know Angie @ Daves Engine and machine and her husband Mike @ enterprise motorsports in Newark, You'll know they have a great attention to detail. You can see it in their port work, engine builds, chassis fabrication, suspension tuning and much more. 1st thing Angie did when she saw the car was inspect it with a keen eyeball for straightness and paint wetness and told the owner, bowman, " You got a F*cking damn good deal". I'll let the picture speak for the work.
Day 1 the car arrived to us late afternoon on a Thursday and driven off the trailer of http://www.westcoastcharity.org/ ( donate your vehicles here!)
both quarter panels had damage
Day 2- Friday- took off the doors and removing door trims/seals and prepping jambs for paint
Day 3- Saturday ( yes .. we work weekends too)
pulled the quarter panels and laid down some mud =)
Sunday we rest =) ( we need to stop slavery sometime you know ?)
day 4 Monday comes around we wait for Bowman to stroll through the dealers to look at paint colors to figure out a color he likes . Until then we keep prepping the VFN sunoco wide extended hood and satin black his berger panel. and laid down some primer and started wet sanding the quarters
day 5 Tuesday - Bowman finds a color he likes off a nice euro car and we get to spraying sealer and base on all the parts
black out the sail panel
day 6 Wednesday
more jambing and gettin on that color !!
day 7 Thursday
by now we're just excited about shooting our load . I mean paint on the car
day 8 Friday we wait for the paint to cure and start putting back misc items such as door trims/ seals etcc
day 9 Saturday we shot the pro-stock aluminum WING and the mirrors because they were misplaced. but got done non the less
Day 10 Monday we started color sanding the vehicle and buffing it out
Day 11 Tuesday Bowman prepares to come down and picks up the car from us. looking @ the transformation of the car . Funny how a many with over 2000 WHP is more excited over paint then he is about new parts. I guess a guy with all the parts in the world, still hasnt had new wet paint sprayed before.
took him a day to get the car put back together and here it sits now. Hopefully itll get more event coverage and magazine articles to shoot the car. As people are already Lined up and blowing up his phone to get some pictures of this beauty it should be no time at all that you see internet and magazine coverage as the car continues to set down records nation wide.
