Default local trans shop for high performance rebuild on a 2004r...

After alot of reading it looks like it will be alot cheaper and easier to rebuild the 2004r tranny that I have lying around from the bel air project and install that into the camaro, rather than converting to the 6 speed, which looks to be a $4,000.00 or more project. Anyone know of a good local transmission shop that can rebuild my 2004r to handle about 600 hp? I'd rather not do bowtie, due to the drive. Also, CMS recommended exreme transmission, but it's up in LA. I'd rather stick to a san diego based place. Anyone got any ideas?

honestly he is your best bet.... he has always done my customers and myself right.... he really stands behind his work.... sometimes you need to drive for guaranteed quality work
there most likely is a shop in SD that will gladly build your trans and i am not saying it wont hold up... but the little drive guarantees a good trans

They are 125 miles away from me, or 2 hours and 9 minutes via google maps. I'm sure they are awesome. Bowtie transmission is 152 miles away and 2 hours 38 minutes away, and I know they are awesome. I'd like to hear about other places before I resign myself to drive 2 hours 1 way to get a 2004r rebuild.
