I'd put stock into the Hennessy LS9 Camaro
HPE550 Camaro vs. Shelby GT500 vs. Challenger SRT8

Not good enough, also too expensive to compete. GM needs to shed weight, toss in a better cam and fit a better airbox to the current LS3. A suspension revision with adjustable shocks, and smaller lighter weight wheels with some better rubber will round out a good package. I mean the Boss is cutting over 1.01G on the skid pad to the Camaros 0.87g that is just pathetic by comparison.

They need to shoot for a price under 40k with this model of it's not going to have any success as competition for the Boss. Let the Z-28 with a blower, etc. go after the GT500 like it was originally supposed to.

If GM can pull off the Camaro switching over to the Alpha chassis by late 2012 as the 2013 model it will be back in the fight. This chassis should allow the Camaro to lose a few hundred lbs. at minimum, couple that with a more powerful LS5, possibly a 6.0 version (as opposed to the 5.5) and a solid suspension set-up the camaro will be back at the top of the mountain.

Completely Agree...
I was at Laguna Seca on Saturday for the Monterey Motorsports Reunion (formerly Monterey Historics) and saw the Boss at the Ford Paddock as well as the Boss 302R on the track, I'm sure they'll sell.

I just really hope that if/when GM actually puts future special editions into PRODUCTION (including Z28) it really gets behind them.
I continually notice is how much more support Ford gives its special edition models vs. GM.

Original idea for the Z28 was to compete in Trans Am racing this is why the first gens came with a 5.0L 302, the Z28 cost more than the SS originally and was a stripped down Camaro.

Now second gen SS was better for the couple years they offered and well third gen had no SS.

GM will do something they have always been that way, Ford made the Mustang and released it in 1964 well 1963 1/2, then GM came out with the Camaro for the pony car wars in 1967 or 1966 1/2.

I have faith GM will do something if not, well then I guess I am buying German from now on hahaha.

have some faith guys GM isnt completely out yet. those are some bad *** fords for sure, but lets not all forget they would still be hurt if they bumped into a new cadillac CTS-V wagon. once the Z28 comes out (something at a reasonable price, i hope) it will be a great time for muscle cars. i think GM just forgot about the average joe. it seems as if theyre catering more to the rich....look at the corvette carbon, zr-1, etc...

It won't be that difficult for GM, just cut the Camaro in half.

I'm sure those cars won't even be close to what the z28 is going to be doing handling wise. Look at what they pulled off with the cts-v and zr1. Can't wait to see what it's going to do

Sorry to kill some hopes here, but it is Mustang's game from here out. The Mustang is the last remaining American Pony Car. The Camaro and the Challenger are both Muscle cars. Muscle cars weigh more than Pony Cars and there isn't a lot to be taken out of the Camaro to make it even compete with the Mustang's high horse versions.

Muscle Car - Family car built into a coupe with striking looks.
Pony Car - Built on its own platform ready to go fast out of the box: Light and plenty of power.

Lets stop making the new "horsepower wars" GM vs. Ford. GM cannot compete with a pony car by using a muscle car. The GM pony car died in 2002 - R.I.P.
