All GNs are regal's with interior and motor options, suspension and some rare leightweight package. The Grand National hold their value more than 94-96 IMPALA ss and Look alot meaner. But when it comes to reliability and DD comfort the Impala SS takes it. My ss is my daily driver and love it!!!! Ive sold both of my GNs and miss them like crazy.Ive talked to alot of people GN and T-Type owners and they love going side ways in second gear when the boost kicks on!!!!! Ahhhhh THOSE WERE THE DAYS LOL

Grand Nationals look sick, 87 is the only year to be concerned with too, maybe 86 but 84 and 85 were hot air cars (no intercooler) and were not as sinister in appearance mainly bc of the grill as mentioned earlier...
we have had an 87 GNX and currently have 2 87 GNs and the GNX wheels really do make the car look better since they are black with the chrome lip...
I think these are two totally different types of car in that the impala is a very smooth and bubbly looking sedan while the GN is more squared and has only 2 doors... Street cred goes to the GN for sure but I have seen some LSx Impalas that really run, hell even the LTs get with it...
I had an opportunity to get a low mileage white WE4 Turbo Regal with a laundry list of mods and a mid 11 timeslip but I chose the smoother looking Camaro that had been driven hard but not modded for the same price. I guess that disproves my vote lol
I still toy with the idea of DD'ing one of the GNs but they are both project cars at the moment (one shows and the other goes) and I would probably feel worse if I lost one of those classics
Also, I have never personally seen a GN with 26" rims but I know they fit on the impala
my .02 and then some
