Yeah, what's the deal on this? I'm just going to go somewhere local if I have to wait until summer for Allen to come out. I need a tune ASAP

Indeed they are. I've been tuning standalones and piggybacks in the import scene for a few years now. While track time is important to see what MPH you are running, so you can see quantifiable gains in performance (we do agree that MPH is an indicator of HP, no?) Road tuning is less then ideal due to the inconsistancies of many factors. Road conditions/variables, wind speed, etc, These things will prevent you from getting the most from your truck.
My experience has found that you can get 90% of your power on the dyno, and the remaining 10% on the track. The dyno can't do it all unfortunately

I'm all for plug and pray off the shelf maps. Pray so that the map is ideal for your truck and mods. But no map is truley perfect and almost always needs to be tweaked. So no matter what your choice, make sure to get a baseline(no mods), PCM installed-base, and PCM installed-tuned) that way you know that it was worth your time and money.
