Default lsx 376 cam upgrade

I just bought a lsx 376 crate motor for my 90 iroc vert and i already bought an ls3 intake from berger for it. I would like to pass emissions with it, so does anyone know if a comp cam.228/.232 114 .588 in .591 out would pass smog. I am going to run doug thorley shorty headers, with 2010 camaro factory cats. I am eventually going to run my procharger on it, but need to save up for the brackets. here is a pic of my new engine.

What would be a good cam to pass that will pick up some horsepower on this engine. I have seen a ls2 gto pass with a 228/232 cam at 115 lsa it was called the rsd4 cam. Any ideas anyone?

Seems like a HUGE waste to spend all thet money on a badass crate motor only to stick in an emissions cam...

I'd just do all the stuff you want to do to the motor and just get a "smog" every other year. Regardless unless you're putting stock exhaust manifold and everything else stock, you're not going to pass smog. If you're worried about smog that much put it in the first gen in behind the motor in the picture.

No i am not worried about emissions, just wanted to pass the tail pipe.not to worried about the visual. The first gen is not my car. I just bought this motor new off someone who was selling it. So i got it a bit cheaper than new.

Yeah - good luck passing the tail pipe test with an LSx 376... A 224/224 cam in a stock LS1 is one of the largest cams that will surely pass the tailpipe testing standards for a 98+ F-body.

We have custom grinds for alot of ls3 engines... We use comp cams to grind them up as well... I would suggest a 224-232 on 115+2 or 223-231 on 115+2 we use these cams a fair amount on ls3 vettes and 2010 camaros... What's also a common misconception out there is people think a smaller more emissions friendly will not make good power in a ls3, the great cylinder of the ls3 engine does not need alot of duration/overlap to make great power.. Give us a call or email if you have questions.

^^^ good point, also as CI increases you can increase the duration of the camshaft and still pass emissions testing.
