Default Does anyone know about lifted trucks?

Well I have this with an 04 silverado. The truck has been lifted, now the thing is that when u turn all the way left and right it gets stuck like if the power steering is going out or something. Funny because the power steering has been changed and the gear box has also been changed. I'm busting my head trying to figure this out. I put the stock wheels back on and stopped for a little and then came back. Any ideas? U guys think that I would maybe need a stronger pump or something like that?

Don't think. Everytime u take off a little weight off the front wheels it doesn't do it.

I've aligned a couple lifted 1500's/2500's and the linkage is **** on those, more than likely the problem. Turn it lock to lock while someone is under it making sure nothing is binding.

It's not a huge lift. It's probably only couple of inches. I'll check it out. Thanks guys.

No pops. Normal. From time to time it will work normal. Then just act stupid and the steering gets hard.

Haven't checked the alignment hubs are fine. Funny because it gets worse when u step on the brake. Like the wheels don't feel free.

Did you grease the slide pins on the brake calipers? Does it do it all the time or only when turning? What's your tire wear look like?

Haven't messed with the brake system so I wouldn't know if the caliper pins are greased. I highly doubt that the calipers are an issue, since they move freely front to back when u turn lock to lock. It gets worse when u step on the brake because the tires aren't free to move back and forth. But I'm thinking the pump might not have the ***** to turn it lock to lock.

That's what I was thinking of doing. Putting a smaller pulley and see how that goes.

If the steering gets a little hard will giving it a little throttle solve your problem? If so my 2002 Silverado has done that since new. I purchased it in 2002 off the showroom floor with the lift, tires and wheels. I've got about 130,000 on her and I haven't had an actual steering failure yet.

I'll give that a try. I haven't tried that. This is an 04. Any difference?

What do u mean? I'm going to try to give an explination.

Lock to lock turning gets stiff as hell. Let's say u center the wheel right. All the way left, while u are like about half way turn it gets hard and u have to struggle like if u didn't have power steering. Same as if u went all the way right, half way it will get hard. But ok, I Jack up the wheels just enough to take the load off the front wheels and the steering is super easy to turn lock to lock. I'm seriously thinking it's something with the pump or the gear box. It's got OEM stuff replacement in it and still won't act right. *** I'm confused. I'm thinking the wheels are wide and need more power
