Default Lost a t-top after leaving Carlsbad sat car Gathering!

Looks like some As_hole unlatched my drivers side t-top while at the gathering this morning. I checked them before leaving the house and getting on the freeway. I really didn't think some broke *** hater would do something like this so I neglected to check before pulling out. I get on the I-5N and swoosh, there she goes along with new leather t-top shade. Guess I will be locking my trash from now on. Lesson learned.

Man, that really sucks. I take it that the t-top broke into pieces? Did you pick up the shade? I always lock mine when I put them back on.

Yup, shattered in a thousand pieces. Couldn't pull over and grab the lock and shade because cars were quickly coming up behind me.

Sorry to hear it man. Same thing happened to me about 7 years ago. I was leaving my house, and barely got onto the first road where you could travel more than 25 MPH. When I hit about 40, I just heard a loud "wooosh!" and saw the sunlight shining down on my passenger seat, and then it hit me lol.

Are you sure it was a hater? If you've had people in the car lately, maybe they were playing with it and left it unlatched. That's what happened to mine. Turned out, a chick I was giving a ride to the day before it happened, was messing with it and left it in the open position.

I'd be hella heated. Hope you can find a deal on a new one. A lot of people try to use mine as a o-sh*t handle but I catch it outta the corner of my eye and inform them they'll be responsible for replacing it if they pull on that handle

I'm certain someone unlatched it. I did my pre-flight check before leaving home and they were latched and then I drove at 85mph to the meeting spot before we all took off to the mall. No biggie. Have one waiting on me and a new leather shade being made. Should be ready on Monday. Like they say "**** happens"

Sucks. I don't even touch mine anymore, adjusted them tight and locked them.

Lost a couple over the years, one was latched and flew off when I went over a dip, must have flexed the car.

I've heard that they can look latched but still be loose-over time the locking pin might have to be adjusted. Also, I've forgotten to lock my latches a coupla times and I've been really lucky, as I end up at my destination after freeway driving and notice they weren't locked!

I've heard that too but I physically grab my tops when I check them and I'm **** about the little things so I keep the latching mechanism greased and tight. I guess I'll just have the replacement top re-keyed and keep them locked.

Excatly what happened to me. Was dropping her off, she asked me about it when i was driving... I told her not to mess with it, but she must have moved it and put it back because when i looked over it looked closed.

On my way home after i was on the freeway, and same thing... just "Whoosh!"... and I saw it in the rear view. Tried to find it but i think it went into someones back yard. Just glad it didnt hit another car!
