Default NV / Las Vegas - Air Emission test questions

NV / Las Vegas - Air Emission test questions

I might be relocating to the Las Vegas area in a couple of months (pending a job interview. going on my 3rd interview with the company)

My question is, what kind of air emissions testing does the NV / Las Vegas area conduct?

I have 2001 z28 m6, full bolt ons, LTs, ORY (no cats), LM2 muffler and a healthy cam 231/237 590/590 112LSA.

I pass Illinois air emission test without issues (its an ODBII test), because the SES code for the CATS was deleted during my tune.

should my Z28 pass in the vegas area?

Thanks

it'll fail the visual test for no cats, but if it passes the IL sniffer it should do fine otherwise. I would consider making a bolt in catted pipe, so you can swap cats in for the test only. Alot of places dont even look for cats if its an OBD2 car. They just plug into the ALDL and go. It's a chance you take to hope you get lucky on that day though. They dont even sniff OBD2 cars here. A buddy with no cats on his GTO did get caught by a rolling sniffer test, but he was running pretty rich though too.

Let me know if you move here. I'll hook you up with a couple local clubs.

thanks for the info... IL does not do sniff or visual test, just ODB2 which is why I pass.

I was concerned vegas would do a sniffer test attached to my exhaust tips.

you can smell the fumes if you stand behind my car...

cool I will keep you posted, if and when I move...

No visual or sniffer on OBDII cars man, same as in IL.

You'll pass with flying colors as long as no codes are pending.

Thanks for the info guys....

I was worried a sniffer and mirrors were used in vegas, which means my z28 would fail.

the cam lopes hard and produces some sweet fumes...
