California smog is retarded.....
So I bought a 1994 firebird formula not too long ago that I've finally got running, and so I needed to smog it. It came with some bolt-ons and SLP shorties which are smog and CARB legal according to EO D-187-10 (http://arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/de...o/D-187-10.pdf). Well since there is no sticker for these headers in the engine compartment and apparently printing that PDF and showing it to them is not enough, my car has failed because they simply cant type in that EO number....Has anyone encountered this before? Isnt the CARB EO document sufficient? Is there someplace I can get this sticker? Let me know

Lol i about ready to do that....so over California laws. But anyways while reading about up on the BAR smog laws, I read a section that basically said that if there was no carb sticker, it didnt constitute a failure so long as the part number of the headers could be compared to the EO number. Does anyone know if there is a part number imprinted on the headers anywhere? I took a brief look and didnt see anything so is there a way to prove that my headers are SLP 30015 headers?

Lots of guys I met in college that were from other states.....to get around the bullshit $500 tag fee they had to pay, I just gave them my address and they said they lived there for the 4 years in college.
**** the government.....

I would look closer to the tag on the headers and look for the EO number typically thats where its stamped. Read this at bottom of page. http://www.bar.ca.gov/80_BARResource...%2012-2009.pdf
Maybe call slp for a replacement sticker

Reading stuff like this is just one more reason why I am afraid to change anything about my car... Its completely stock right now. California laws are so bullshit.. Im leaving this wack state after school.

99Bluz28, Referees don't do smog licensing, at least mine didn't back in 2009. I needed to get my car smogged (the same day) after getting the BAR sticker for the engine swap, and the referee directed me to an officially licensed smog station since he couldn't do it himself (even though he had the equipment).
Look at the SLP tag on the headers. It should have the E.O. number and they should be able to reference it. You should also go back to the same place and tell them they're full of it if they try to charge you again for their own mistake.

My son Has some issues back in September 2011 with the CARB header and the cat. converter, and He failed smog (visually). The shop that did his smog told him to call and make an appointment with a smog reff, so he took his paper work with him to the reff and he verified that his header and factory Cat were smog legal. The reff then sent the info to the DMV (or whoever) and cleared it right then, since he had only failed on the visual.

I'm gonna try and go back on wednesday when theres a different tech working the shop and see if he is at least sensible. The headers dont have the EO or model number on them anywhere just that SLP plate. either way I got in contact with SLP and they said they would send me the correct stickers. Thanks for the help everyone hopefully I can get it smogged with hassle now.

Not all headers have the EO number stamped on them and it is not required. I had a buddy with headers on his Toyota 4x4 that were stupid expensive but had an EO number, just a sticker, not stamped. In the directions that came with the headers it specifically stated that the EO number does not have to be stamped on the header.
I also agree with taking it to another shop. It all depends on the person doing the test.
