Hey everyone! I just graduated college in Texas and I will most likely be taking a job in Fresno, CA. I understand the emissions requirement in California is pretty strict and being cammed with no cats, I am fairly certain I would not pass. Therefore my plan was to put my car on non-operational registration and keep it as my project car. I do not need it to be inspected, since it would be listed as "non-operational" right? I'll be buying an economical car as my DD.

You can try and find a shop that'll pass you but some will want you to at least have cats on there...EPA certified of not. If you want to keep it as a project car only then you have nothing to worry about. Just put it on NON OP and store it. Just make sure you never leave it parked on a city street or drive it on a city road.

Well, I don't want to jinx it yet. I have my final on-site interview later in January. It's a groundwater filtration company. I have family there as well, so I can stay with them until I find a nice place of my own. Why is everyone making this city seem so blah? Seriously, I'm doing my research and interviewing this company as much as they are with me. That includes the city it is in.
And yes, Clovis would be where I would live. Hence the DD I need to commute to work.

Well I lived in Fresno for about 5yrs and being from LA, it sucked. Great if you wanna retire there but sucks for regular life. Its behind the times, nothing is around you but fields, and the people are well...different. Lot of crime and drugs within the main city, better in the boonies. Same is true for LA but its so big its spread out concentrated more in certain areas. Fresno is too small so the concentrated areas are bigger. Not my cup of tea but maybe youll like it. Just see it as a stepping stone. Youre just starting off so its only your first stop in a promising career. Lot of ricers too. The muscle car scene aint as big as here.

It's official. I took the job here in Fresno. I'm currently looking for an apartment to live in (preferably with an enclosed garage space). I'll be shipping the car out here in a couple months. If anyone knows of any friendly inspection shops, please let me know! Also, I don't know anyone out here besides my uncle, so I'd enjoy meeting other car enthusiasts!
