Default Base Stickers/Smog

I honestly just can't remember the rules on this one. For those of you that remember me, my car is NOT smog legal for CA. (I have no cats, long tubes and true dual, plus ALL my smog equipment has been deleted) It is an IL car, with IL plates/title. Can I still get a base sticker, or do I have to do it at Great Lakes? If I do it at Great Lakes (the car IS Illinois legal), will I have to change to Pendleton stickers when I get out there? I do NOT want to have to leave the car out here, but I am not going to make it CA smog legal. I might have to live on base, so this could be an issue. If I lived off base, I just wouldn't take it on base and be fine with the IL plates. Any suggestions or know what the current rules are?

You can keep your base sticker from Great Lakes when it does time to get new stickers, just keep your car registered in IL. Plenty of people keep the cars registered in other states.

For a Camp Pendleton sticker, I am hearing that they are going to want a CA smog, is this true?

I know one member on this forum who was stationed at Camp Pendleton and his car was registered in IL. His car wasn't CA legal.

I'm stationed in Lemoore, the base only wants to see valid registration and insurance, that's all, they do not enforce smog and crap. So as long as your car is legit in you home of record, your fine..

I think if you are registering your car in CA then you need a smog certificate. The OP will be fine driving on base with a Great Lakes sticker. I was stationed at Camp Pendleton and I drove on base for two yrs with Naval Airstation Whidbey Island Sticker.

I hope so. I can't see anything on Camp Pendleton's website. I am going to call to make sure.

I went to Miramar MCAS just over a month ago to get new stickers for my my car and they just asked for registration, insurance, dl and military id. I don't think you need to be stationed there. I am not. I am retired.
