One of the dudes @ my job has a WS6. He says he runs 87 non top tier gas because he says gas is too expensive. The motor sound like crap.

It is recommended to run 91 octane but it should run on 87 without any issues

Yeah, I of course would never recommend it, but the most that will happen is it will just pull knock timing alot more than usual.

Car should run okay with regular unleaded, but I read a thread about gas mileage being worse with running regular unleaded. If true, your buddy will save some money at the pump but will lose money while driving.

I run mid grade in my 99. I haven't seen or heard any problems. I run 91 in my other two T/A's.

If he keeps beating on it, it might cause issues in the long run, the PCM will pull timing due to knock, but enough stupidity is enough...

Why buy a car and not maintain it properly, tell him I will give him a 93 integra for his car so that the car will at least get taken care of, and I can provide him with an appropriate car he can treat like crap.

I've put 87 gas in my car about two times when money was low, nothing happens but I have noticed gas mileage is worse I do better with 91 so that's what it stays with always now
