Default Need help in AZ !

Guys, I might need some help rebuilding my 10 bolt, I am located in AZ / PHX area. I am looking into it, but sounds like the rear end is toast. I currently don't have $3-4 grand for a 9 inch etc. Car is stock and I don't plan on beating it up. Is there anybody in the area that could help, or know a guy ? I really don't want to pay a shop $1500 just for a 10 bolt rebuild. Thanks for any help !!

I may go that route, but I would feel better with new parts, and new 4.10s. do you happen to know any backyard mechanic type guys ? I am pretty mechanical, however I have never worked on a rear end.

you ever hit any west valley car meets? would be nice to meet some F body guys. Once my car is ok to drive hahaha.

M6s' are not easy on rear ends. Since you have a 4 channel ABS & TC, a replacement rear end also has to be of 4 channel. Brake plumbing and the electronics are not compatable between the two styles.Putting a 3 channel rear into your car will cause the ABS dashboard light to be forever on and can't be fixed/changed in the computer as it's a safety function. And only get one from a 98-02 car, camaro or firebird.

Also Aftermarket rear ends have much difficulty in the 4 channel realm, some don't even offer it, some that have it mostly don't work.

It’s really not worth it to put money into a 10 bolt. You are better off finding a temp replacement until you’re ready for an aftermarket rear and especially so being a manual. I used to do most all of the different shows and “gatherings” years ago all over the valley and state but stopped everything when I parked my TA in 2012. It’s almost ready to run but I probably won’t attend many shows. I’d rather do short trips canyon carving.

The only things I don’t do are transmissions and diffs. I have a few people I can talk to about side work and I’ll get back to you on that. In the meantime I highly recommend finding a decent used rear. Join the groups and make a post, you’ll find one in no time.

Since you have an M6, the code for that is GU6 (3.42s'), The automatics got GU2 (2.73s') and GU5 (3.23s').

my plan is to go 373s or 410s. car isn't going to be tracked. just a weekend car. I think the 10 bolt will be fine, car doesn't have much power.
