Never heard of them

Maybe you can cruise over and pay them a visit?

Would be nice if there was somebody closer than Fremont that could install and tune an STS properly.

I've only been able to find A&A Corvette and LAPD both of which are about 85 miles from me. I'm near Knotts Berry Farm. Seems like there would be a reputable shop with LS1 Edit around here somewhere.

Yeah, you'd think. I'm really interested in getting an STS Turbo for my 99 TA, but not if it's going to give me problems or be under-powered, because of some crappy tune.

Joe Jill at Superior Automotive has a nice shop. Probably one of the cleanest I've ever seen. When ever I need a serious engine I'll keep him in mind. Although he isn't cheap, I know I'll get a race quality engine build. Go down there and talk to him. He's a real nice guy. Don can be a bit moody though - don't mind him. LOL I bet he would laugh at the STS kit... I'm still going to get one anyways... good luck

Twitch,

I was just there last week. Awesome shop, nice dyno (AWD) set-up and very nice and knowledgeable staff. They installed a Vararam, GHL long tube headers and the LAPD Urban Assault 3" muffler system. I went in with 355 rwhp and came out with almost 390 rwhp after their dyno tuning. Their new tuner is awesome! He tuned the car without compromising my torque management or any other GM safety feature such as traction control, etc. My car feels awesome with it's new found power.

SoCalLS7,
The need for speed bug has bit me and I'd like to get some work done on my 01 C5. How much was the tune @ LAPD? How does the "Urban Assualt" muffler sound? I want something more agressive than stock but I don't want to be too loud.

The tune at LAPD was a special: $595.00 since I was having a bunch of work done there and bought all the parts from them. They give you a special deal on the tuning as long as you buy the parts there and have them installed in their shop. The LAPD exhaust is just something you have to hear in person. They have a couple Vettes there that they can demo for you. That is how I first heard it and just loved it! It is more aggressive than stock, but NOT loud at all. My Z06 sounds amazing and not everyone and their mom has it. It makes my Z06 unique.

not to burst your bubble, but they are known to exaggerate their dyno numbers

Fierce-LS1,

Do you have proof of that? I saw my before and after numbers and witnessed all dyno testing/tuning as it was being done. I haven't heard that about LAPD so far. I have dealt with them enough times to know that everyone there is very honest about everything they do. Unless you can prove otherwise, I feel that you shouldn't post negative comments about them when they have put forth a good faith effort for a lot of Corvette owners such as myself. LAPD has done nothing but good for a lot of people out there so I don't know where you get that idea. Besides the results LAPD got me on my car were not abnormal. Many other tuners have gotten the same results with the same mods and dyno tuning, so that is why I have a problem with your statement.

Andy and A&A will dyno tune for $400-500.
he's in oxnard might be worth the trip to save a couple hundred bucks.

Do a search, and not just on this board. Lots of discussion regarding LAPD.

Tom's_03SVT,

Andy charges $595.00 for dyno tuning services.

SS MPSTR,

I have performed those searches regarding LAPD and didn't see any negative feedback. The people that I spoke with that had work and tuning done there were very happy and so was I after I dealt with them firsthand. All I can say is they were a pleasure to deal with.

I know a very talented tuner in Orange County who uses LS1_edit and HPTuners and tunes on a Dynojet, and he won't rape you for $600. PM me for info.
