Registering in another state

Hi. I just moved here to California from southern Arizona. I'm planning on keeping my car registered in Arizona for as long as possible.
So anybody else that's had a car registered out of state, how long were you able to get away with it?

I drove my truck for a little over a year with Texas plates and a Cali license and never got any guff for it .......... One of my friends from Texas as well has texas plates for over 2 years and never had one problem as well ....... I really do not think most of the officers really give a hoot .......
