Default CA Smog

I need to take the car in for smog and every now and then it throws a random misfire code (300 I think). Can I just disable the code or set it to not trip the SES light? Will they be able to tell? Thanks in advance!

The scan I believe only looks for codes, I would hve to speak with my tuner for sure, but I believe you can disable the misfire code and be ok. I will talk to him and get back to you.

How often does your car throw the code?
If you think your car will make it through the testing session without throwing the code, one thing you can do is purchase a CReader (super cheap code reader/code clearer) from Harbor Freight for like $30. Throw it into your glove box, plug it in, and clear the codes before going in for testing.

If you need a more permanent solution, post up on www.sdcarscene.com, there are a few members over there with HPTuners for just about all of the LS1 years that might be able to help you out.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I actually have both, that's why I was asking. If you use a scanner and clear the DTC's you'll fail because your startup / trip checks won't be logged yet. (ask me how I know) I know I can disable it using HPTuners, but was just curious if they can tell that or not...God CA is annoying...

If your computer is "empty" you will fail (cost me $55.00 to learn that). Not like it used to be.

O2 sims should pass fine.

Turning off codes depends on which ones and how many you turn off. A couple is usually fine. I know the AIR, secondary AIR, all that crap you can turn off and it will pass. You can have a few 'not readies' and be ok

If the tech is on top of it yes. It's one of the things they are supposed to look for.

Best bet is to go to one of those asian places that doesn't speak english... EGR is a bitch cause the emmisions sticker on the car under the hood clearly points out the EGR... so you gotta hope for luck.

I believe if you have 3 or 4 of the ready codes they will pass it that is if it actually passes the smog part of it

The lack of EGR will greatly increase the NO2 readings. I learned the hard way....

They seem pretty nice. I've never been a big catback guy, I'm more of a longtubes and some pipes and a dump kinda guy. On my camaro I just run an 18" bullet to keep it quiet.

The vette is going to stay stock for a while, and although its a nice catback all I notice is that I'm driving a quiet car.
