Default where do you So,Cal ppl go to do maintenance repair on your lt1/ls1?

i have a list of crap i need to fix on my 96ss.
1) there is too much play on my steering wheel.
2) my drivers window don't work, and my passengers window is soon on its way out
3) one of my fog light dont work
4) the drivers side t-top doesn't lock, its like the key doesn't work w/it but the key can lock/unlock the passenger t-top
5) power locks dont work
6) seam between drivers window and door and comming apart. every time i close my door, i have to make sure to 'fix' it each time
7) sometimes my car doesn't make proper connection w/my battery. i have to jingle the wire connecting to battery to make the connection
8) a/c blows hot air.

i COULD send it to local dealership but don't want to be charged a lot. i don't trust any joe shmoe repairstore either to save a few bucks.

any recommendations?? do places like Don lee auto, strickly performance do stuff like this?? or are they only a performance shop??

i would if i could. im mechanically non-inclined. i don't feel comfortable getting instruction off the net and tearing my car down to fix some repairs. im all up for someone showing me in person so that in the future id be able to do it myself

i'd do it all myself, but i'm pretty darn comfy with tearin stuff apart.

where in orange county are you?

window motor, power windows, fog lights, battery connection should be easy diy stuff.

i think you're saying that the little piece of black trim that seals against the outside of the window is coming apart? probably have to order that one, but should be an easy fix.

so we're left with a/c (take it somewhere), steering (have a buddy check it out for you first, then shop), t-tops i dunno cuz i don't have t-tops.

electric water pump, shorty headers, electric cutout, cai, magnaflow catback, "super high flow cat", CC306 cam, ls1 driveshaft.

my car sounds pretty mild compared to some other cars on this board but it runs pretty good for a stock head LT1

the steering is proba ly bad ball joints(tie rod ends), or steering box. you can replace those at home but will need to take it somewhere else to get it aligned

If you are stuck on taking your car to someone and not doing some things yourself, then I would strongly recommend Don lee auto. They do great work.

Yeah Mike is a great guy. I have taken my car to him several times. However the gentleman who started the thread is in the O.C. So don lee auto is closer to him than haddad motorsports in Inglewood.

I do about 96.94784564734945656% of the work my self to keep cost down, Plus I dont want to let some one else have all the fun of working on the car. It also helps me get to know the car better.

i'd say, D.I.Y. it's more fun, and that's the only way to learn.

Cost and time are my factors in doing work on my F-body. I've never had Don Lee do any work but all I've heard is positives. Mike Haddad is good too. Inglewood is too far for me though. I don't think you loose with either one! Pick your pleasure and get that Z into *** whiping shape.

i say just learn in by doing it. I've never done a clutch before but I'm either gonna do it tomorrow or next saturday, depending if I can find a machine shop open on saturdays... don't be intimidated, if you can't figure somethin out just take it to the shop and blame it on the previous owner
