I am not impressed, to say the most. We were running VP Fuels C16 on the recommendation that the engine was a 16.5:1 CR, but on the dyno it produced terrible results and timing was around 32 degrees and no knock! I don't think it is 16.5:1 ... more like 13:1 (even less dynamic CR), so I got some VP-110, cost less as well , and dynoed the Z28 last night (until 10PM! ). This time the ignition timing was optimized at 28 degrees and it loved it, but still fell way short of what I had asked for. The Z28 put down 530 rahp at 6800 rpms and (IIRC) 570 ratq at 4500 rpms. The AFR was about 12.7 slowly climbing to 12.9. We will be testing the Z28 tomorrow night at LACR. This is definate now, it is in the trailer waiting for transport , I predict 10.7 @ 126 MPH at LACR. Strictly said they have a few in stock cams we can try out and see if they can produce better results. We will see what comes about.

That is not bad with a th400. I would expect a little more with that much compression though. The edelbrock works very well for us. May want to consider it. With the higher rise single plane you would make more power. You really need a solid cam and some serious heads to make 600 rwhp off a 408ci. Let us know how it runs.

Yes it is an LQ4 I purchased locally.
Rob, we might as well go solid. I am comfortable going that route if we need to, it just means I will have to spend more time doing "maintance" on it. I think you may be right, as it peaks at 6800 ... which could be the lifters not being able to support more rpms.
As Rob said, it is a GMPP intake matched to the heads. I had to machine the intake down to fit under the hood, I wonder if a psacer would help bring more out of it (to simulate an Edelbrock)?
We will let everyone know the results late tonight.

I say you run a 10.5 @ 127 later in the night, thats if you hook it to the tune of a 1.4- 60 foot, i ran 10.6 at 125 in my third gen there with 525 rwhp in the 434 way back, be safe, have fun tonight

A spacer will definitely help with an NA setup...it will with FI as well, but not to the extreme. How much did you mill off to begin with?
I have a Victor Jr. on my car with an elbow. I needed to trim the cowl and I am going to have to cut the hood to get it to work with the stock SS hood...which I am none too happy about.
The car is getting the intake piping and the exhaust done now, so it should be a few weeks till it is up and running. Let me know if you want to take a look at it.

Todd, we should be able to hit mid 1.4s, hoping for very high 1.3s ... so we will see who get's closer to the estimate.
Thanks Scott, I will take you up on that. I had about .25"-.30" milled from the top ... and it is just barely rubbing the flat Z28 hood (glasstek). I am just going to have to cut a spot for it to clear if I go with a spacer. Hmm, maybe have the TB stick out of the hood into a hood scoop.
