Peter if you buy a new compressor for the warranty to be valid you have to replace the dryer and something else my dad said. If its making noise you probabaly can just replace the bearing. The part is 30 bucks and my dad will do it for 100. Joeys worked fine after we put in the new bearing.

chris! did you look at the rocker arm to see if it's hitting the spring? if these were used heads? they could have sunk the valves in the seats, causing a higher stem height!

anyways... good news, somebody finally bid on my wheels, the new auction, with no reserve, guy bid 500$... now i have to figure out how to ship these damn things!

 

oh! almost forgot. peter, DON'T BUY **** FROM CHECKERS!!!!!! every compressor i have installed from them IS JUNK!!!! even there "new" compressors!

Still not sure on the noise I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow night.

Peter- If the bearing went bad on the compressor most likely the orifice tube has a bunch of **** stuck on it. Not a hard or expensive fix. Flush the evaporator, condensor, get a new reciever/drier and evac and recharge the system. Did 2 of them today at work.
