Altitude Correction
LACR is 2,710 ft. above sea level.
To figure the altitude factor the formula is as follows:
ET: multiply your et (at LACR) by .97
MPH: multiply your mph (at LACR) by 1.03
This will give you the ET & MPH at sea level.

When I compared times between running at Terminal Island and LACR back in the 80's I noticed that the car was about .2 sec slower. Carb adjustment might have given about .05 to .1 back though. Didn't want to alter it as it was dialed in for sea level. This was with a 67 Camaro with a 427.

From a Frank Zappa song circa 1974 or so:

Now I'm going back there to the Village of the Sun,
Out in back of Palmdale where the turkey farmers run,
I've done made up my mind and I know I'm gonna go
to Sun Village, good God I hope the wind don't blow ohhhhh....

It takes the paint off your car and wrecks your windshield too,
I don't know how the people stand it but I guess they do,
Cuz they're all still there even Johnny Franklin too,
In the Village of the Sun

Sun, wind and sand indeed.....

I was never into that correction bullshit..you run what you run. I always noticed I am about 1/2 sec slower & 5-7mph at LACR compared to Famoso..

I ran a 13.5 at 104.5 in my lid/cutout/drag radial camaro there with a 2.15 60 foot. That track is so bad that I dont even bother going up there anymore

Are you talking about LACR? I was there last month with the pontiac club, they had to cancel the race because it was really windy & blowing dirt onto the track..I am done with the place myself. I am not going to drive 165 miles one way & not be sure we are going to race.

Oz you putz i told you about that correction. They are talking about trying to build a new track at the bottom of the mined area at LACR in a year or two. That might be better as it should be somwhat sheilded from the wind (either that or worse from the swirl created) I don't think they have the funds to do it though.

anyway for anyone who is interested in trying to help get another track check out www.saveLACR.org to see what you can do. There is no saving the current track I think.

i was just out at Fontana this Friday running their T&T event.. i was hearing everyone talking about them installing lights for weekday night events (wed night or fri night).. if that happens that place will be packed big time. just cross your fingers..

i will NEVER run at LACR, that place is a death trap waiting to happen..

The fast cars are always all over the place there it seems. I've never had any traction problems there other than the launch. I hope to see a better 1/4 mile track open for a wed/fri type thing.

LACR has been good for years, It went to **** this year because they are digging holes & piling sand 50ft high right next to the track..It's sad..I have never had traction issues at all until this year.

The dip in the middle of the track was kind of a bitch, it had a short run down area and jet cars tended to burn down the back stop but other than that it was a blast.
