I had a 2003 Jetta 1.8T. Bigger injectors (440's), 45 trim turbo (which is small), upgraded intank fuel pump, stock intercooler. 280 at the wheels running >10 AFR over 4K RPM. And only weighed 3000 lbs. Would run mid 12's @ 114 (FWD for ya).

So I would disgree with you on them being overrated.

Nice kill. Watch out for him on race gas. Find out what turbo and injector setup he is running.

No, I would've probably lost the front CV axles with slicks especially if I tried to launch it. I was happy with a 1.99 60 ft (okay launch.

Does he have a stock intercooler, or a front mount? Those make a huge difference. You can chew him down. A couple of 'botched' runs with him and he'll get heatsoaked (if it's a stock SMIC). Just a little something for you to ponder.

On race gas, around 320 at the wheels is possible.

Of course I got greedy, got a HUGE turbo and disintegrated one of the connecting rods. That's the weak point on those engines.

Good luck with the next race. Represent the LS1 community and beat him. Please.

I think he had a bigger impeller side than the turbine side and he had an aftermarket front mount intercooler. he could have not done his research and done mods that have a restriction somewhere.
