I got pulled over in my old Z28 that had a 4 inch Mufflex and h/c. You could hear the cam loud and clear. I got pulled over while sitting at a red light. I got busted for the exhaust and missing the front plate. Then the cop saw my nitrous pressure gauge and started asking about my nitrous kit. I lied and told him that I didn't have one (I had the bottle in the passenger well).I ended up just putting the stock muffler back on to shut it up, had to visit a sheriff's station and have them listen to the car, and just paid the fee of the fix it ticket. That's why I put a Magnaflow on my T/A, I don't want to be hassled by cops for loud exhaust anymore. Although my new car is loud as hell and it's going through a Borla (but the blower is louder than the exhaust, I wonder if the cops will pull me over for that).

I wouldn't tell the cop to "get a warrant", that would just **** him off and make your day tougher. But I would politely refuse to open my hood without probable cause and let the cards fall where they may.

I got a modified ticket once, running open headers on the street. I had to goto the state ref, but all I needed to do was put my stock pipes on and goto the ref and just get the noise tested, you just have to be below 95db at 4000rpm and you get signed off. The first time i went i failed... too loud with 3in cat back. those guys went over everything under the hood, checked all the fluids, and all. best part is i have a 99 camaro, im running the ls6 intake without the egr. I had the egr pipe just sitting in the spot where it should go, and the inspector had his hand on it and did not noticed it was not attached. The second guy, just put the sound detector at the back of my car and had me take the car up to 4000 rpm.. This guy was in palmdale, the other was in the valley, i would recomend the guy in palmdale.

Mods on the car at time of test. LS6 intake fast toys ram air, ls motorsports lid, ls6 stage II heads, MMS Aggressor cam 224/224 .571/.571 112lsa, all free mods, and N2O set up.

they will impound and tow your car if you do not open your hood... Trust me, you don't want to go that direction..
