modified exhaust ticket?
modified exhaust ticket? ok so i got pulled over for some stupid reason. i got a ticket for having the tail light covers, no front plate, as of which i dont care about either of those. but also he got me for a modified exhaust (headers). all he saw was that no egr was hooked up to the exhaust. he did not see that i had no cats. he said i will have to take it to a smog referee to have it singed off. is there any ways around this?
You actually have no choice in the matter. You have to put it back to stock so it passes, or there will eventually be a warrant out for your arrest. The referee is worse than a test only, they do a VERY detailed visual, i.e., using mirrors and such to make sure your cats are in place, 02's are hooked up, etc. Good luck

Verdad Gallardo Well, if it's true you can pay a fine rather than go to a referee, then I got totally screwed. I wasn't in the mood to put my heads/cam and all back on just to get it smogged in another year, so out of frusteration I sold it and got a Vette. The Vette is also modified, but I learned my lesson the first time. Don't give them a reason to pull you over in the first place, like doing 92 in a 40 and you won't have that "modified exhaust" problem.

yeah.....i was thinking of doin that, when i was getting the ticket. i have never been pulled over for this kind of crap. i had a chevelle that was 10 times louder than this car, i mean i shook windows. cops just hate on maros.
