A good friend of mine is on a road trip in his 165k mile 2000 Corvette and is almost to LA. The starter just broke its mounting tabs off of the engine block. The local Chebby dealer wants $10k to put in a new short block. I know with a bit of work it can be welded up but don't know SoCal at all.

Can anyone suggest a shop that can perform this repair? He'll be in town by Monday (providing he can find hills to park on) and would need it done within a few days if possible.
