Default Pep boys engine hoist?

So they are having a special on engine hoist, its some company got Torin big red jacks. Anyways its legs are fold away short length will hold 2 tons farthest will hold 1/2 ton. Was just wondering if these are any good because they are pretty cheap so I was just wondering if I should just buy one or just shell out the extra cash for some name brand stuff.

Thats a good price. Harbor Freight usually has those on sale as well.

I'll check harbor freight, I'm always weary of buying critical parts like that at big discount prices because I don't know how good the quality is so just wanted to see if anyone on here had one.

I've used the Harbor Freight hoist, and they are not bad at all. I used it to remove and reinstall a 454 big block in my Chevelle, and there were no problems.

A friend has had his for many years, and just recently had to replace, I believe, an O ring on the ram. But he has used his a lot, and everyone borrows his, so it's seen some tought times. When it's not used, it sits outside.
