If you get caught running, you face.........reckless driving, evading police, who knows how many infractions you commit while speeding away, or you end up wrecking your car and possibly loose your life/or take someone elses.
What if???? That's a chance I'm not willing to take.

Sorry dude, I didn't mean to get on your back. It just worries me that some people are saying it's o.k. to RUN, like if this is a movie. Good question though, did the R1 get away?????

what some of you guys are suggesting he should have done or what you would have done in his position would be charged as a felony reckless evading. pretty damn stupid. unless you're ******* superman it's just not worth it in any way shape or form.

If the cop didn't do anything but give you a speeding ticket, you shouldn't worry about it too much. I got pulled over on 880 in the Bay going a 160 and the cop gave me a ticket for 110. They sent me the ticket and it was 650. I went to court and asked for a extension and the judge gave the extension and dropped the price of the ticket to 300. I only got 1 point on my record. He was getting on the onramp and I was getting off in a two miles. He said the only reason he found me, was because his partner was watching my tail lights. He even said if I was to keep going, they would have never found me. Of course he checked the car and let me know that I was getting off easy. Which I new was true. He even asked where I got all my work done, because he wanted to get back into the muslce car game. He said he used to have a IROC. Sometimes it just pays to be lucky. Just remember, when ever you get pulled over at night, turn your interior lights on so the cop can see inside of the car. If he knows where you are in the car and looking for something, he will relax a little more. trust me, it works.

Did he clock you at that or was that his best guess?
I don't know what I would have done in the same situation but I'm assuming when you saw the cop you weren't doing 140 b/c driving by someone at that speed, even if he were going 65, is a hell of a head start and a big lead for him to overcome to catch up.
I'm guessing the 114 is the speed you were at when you slowed down and he caught up.

My buddy got arrested for going 109mph near flagstaff a few months back. Also being cool to the cop. when I saw the handcuffs go on him, I thought awww f-ck, we're going to jail. So it all depends on what the cop writes up. It sounds like your just going to get a ticket/fine.
On your day in court, dress up, be polite/courteous and be remorseful.
As for running from the cops, it depends on the situation. I "have a friend" that would do this every now and then (not me, that would be illegal ).
You have to make a decision in a split second, and be able to handle the consequences if things don't go your way. Back then, the roads were a lot more smoother, there was less construction going on and less traffic 24/7.
I don't think I'd do it the freeway system is these days.

If I was doin 140+ at the time I passed the cop clocking me, I can saay with no hesistation, you best believe I would have kept right on going. Jumped the exit ramp, then probly jump back on going the opposite direction. Than duck to the nearest mall or parking garage and start walking.
But that's only if I was 110% sure I'd get away, otherwise it wouldn't be worth it. If I did pull over, as afore mentioned, I would turn the cab light on (if at night), and keep my hand at the 10 and 2 on the steering wheel. When cops know they're aren't gonna get shot when they walk up to your window, it puts their mind way at ease.
I hope you beat the R1, lol.

FYI, they helicoptered the R1 and he got pulled over in san clemente... I'm always a fan of running and have done it a couple of times before, in a way different setup car. (Turbo S2k with over 12k in suspension/brakes). I had no idea he clocked me or was even on me until I started slowing down after racing the bike... I pulled into the #3? lane --- just left of the slow lane and was going about 70. He pulled behind me and I knew already so I just pulled off the onramp...

I remember driving eastbound on the 134 late one night (weekday) doing 120+ and I got lit up by a helicopter. It just lit up all around me, I about **** myself. I just downshifted like mad and figured I was going to jail. after a few minutes (probably seconds, just seemed like minutes) he shut off the light and took off. I guess because I was just driving fast and not erratic, plus there was no traffic out. maybe he just got another call.
