Default Mid headers and a y?

Just saved up some money and i think it's time for a nice ORY and mid headers and was wondering what price i should expect to pay online.

And what headers and a y would be best with magnaflow exhaust, in terms or hp gain and sound?

The obvious reason of staying smog legal....

I know my neighbor bought some JBA carb legal headers for like mid $200s and he got a magnaflow catback for a little under $200. So depends if you install it yourself. Probably somewhere in that area.

I bought a set of Bassani mid length headers, and they are really good quality. Like most other things, they aren't on the car yet, but they'll hopefully get there soon.

Bang for the buck-wise, you will have a tough time beating the Mac mids...

make sure you port the primaries on the macs and also get the flowmaster collector and delete the stupid clamp in the y pipe. I have heard if you do all of those they will flow damn near the same as lt's. You will only loose a little mid-upper range torque but almost no power with the macs vs. a longtube header. Also try a search in the external engine section or the dyno section.

with mids and ORY ur still going to be illegal jsut as u would with LT's...u might as well get some LT's and ORY for more performance and prolly around the same price...(i.e. pacesetters)...someone correct if im wrong

no they are just as illegal as long tubes but that kinda look legal and they do not hang down on the bottom like a long tube would

Get the mids, slap on a CARB #, the cop won't know the difference. Say they're JBA's.

ya people also pass with longtubes it is just if the guy catches them or not. which all depends on how much the guy knows his stuff. I would also put the factory heat shields back on the midtubes and put the factory lid when trying to smog with non carb legal headers.

Don't confuse mids with shorties. Most shorties are smog legal, but the Bassani and Mac mids are not. Long tubes are great, but I chose the mids for ground clearance because I drive over some serious speed bumps, and I didn't want the concern for my exhaust system.

Do the research, and get what works for you.

I am not saying that you are wrong, but i know mac's wont pass the visual for sure, but do think they will pass the smog itself... Many people told me they actually did...

I'm a little turned off on the MAC mids, just installed a used set and they leaked at all three flanges. Hd to have the flanges cut out and welded up just to shut them up. I'm pulling them off in favor of some slip fit long tubes soon. JMO

looks like i 'll have to settle for some new oes then. How many miles did the mids have when you installed them?
