Longtubes W/emissions??
What does that mean? Does that mean they are sort of legal? I have to buy headers really soon and need to decide whether to go longtubes or mids
And i've heard if i get a catted Y, i would pass the sniffer... Is that true??

IN California, all the parts that involve emissions, must be original equipment or have a Carb #. Also, the after market parts, cannot change the original location of the catalytic converters... which long tubes do. So all in all, ALL longtubes in CA are illegal on our cars. However, i have a friend with an 01 formula who has longtubes that came with the AIR tube connection and the smog guy didnt even notice they were headers, he just notice that it had the same connections as required in the Engine bay, but a true smog technician would have notice the long tubes...my buddy just got lucky.

Yep, mids re-locate the catalytic converters, thus making it unlawful. Anything other than shorty's, is not legal. Its not illegal in a sense that you cant OWN Mids or Long Tubes.... you just cant have them installed onto a vehicle that is operated on a daily basis. Here is a quote from the Air Resource Board:
"If the part or modification is shown to not increase vehicle emissions, it is granted an exemption to emission control system anti-tampering laws. This exemption is called an Executive Order (EO) and allows the modification to be installed on specific emission controlled vehicles. Every Executive Order part or modification has an assigned number that can be verified by Smog Check stations"
