Exhaust recommendations for CA
My '99 WS-6 has some pretty good mods now - 224/230 cam that I'm told should just squeak by smog, LS6 intake and AFR 205 heads. Now I want to do something about my constipation, since I still have the stock exhaust. Since I'm in CA, I'll have to pass visual smog inspection, and I figure I'm limited to shorty headers. What else can I do? I'm thinking about some hi-flo cats and maybe a better Y-pipe. A cat-back system would also be nice, but I don't want to go too loud, since my wife drives the car sometimes and my neighbors like quiet.
Anyhow, I would welcome some suggestions from other CA members based on their experience.

Oh well. Then the OP will have one of two options:
Edelbrock (or co. of choice), SLP 2.5 Y-pipe, and high flow cats.
or
Go old school find a (look the other way guy) and go full on LT's, ORY, (maybe gutted or HF cats to ward off nosey officers)
Your best bet is (I guess) going to be shortys to a 2.5" y-pipe. Bullet muffler after the merge then maybe a couple more before it exits the rear of the car. That should keep u legal and quiet while giving u some more breathing room. Don't expect the kind of power the guys with bigger headers are getting. I'm thinkin u should've went with a cam that was designed for stock manifolds/shorties.

Call a few shops make a few friends and smog will no longer be an issue...
With a catted Y pipe the car would still pass smog just look for a lazy smog operator who just throws it on the dyno and runs it...
