^^Nevermind, just researched it, not really an option for me...

~ 98 PCM's will not control the 4l80e. There are a couple alternatives for 98's. You could run a manual valve body meaning you shift gears yourself. Or you can control the 4l80e either with a TCI stand alone controller or the BS3. The BS3 has a module where you can contol any GM trans just like you would with HPtuners, EFIlive, or LS1edit. You could also swap out the PCM for a 99+ PCM then have the OS changed. (thanks obZidian!)

I'll start calling places on Monday, thanks guys!

dunno if you saw my post over on LS2.com or not Mark...

but my old firebird was doing the exact same thing yours is doing... i thought it was the tranny. Come to find out I had a clogged cat! Just something you might wanna look into. It's a lot cheaper fix if that's the case...

did you ever get ahold of Ryne?

^^*****. I may have clogged the cats already... Ryne's stuff for A4's is out of house as well. Still weighing my options.

For you setup a 4L80E is overkill. A well built 4L60E will hold up to your setup. While they aren't local I can't recommend enough the guys at Finish Line Trans. They are a little more than some other builders out there but you can find loads of satisfied customers on this and other websites.

Can't be a lot... I just added them after the cam, forgot I needed the air pump hooked up for them, meant to hook it back up but never got around to it.

Had planned on replacing them with bullets later anyways, maybe I should do it sooner. The cats I have on are high-flow metal core.

Damn tranny shifts fine again EXCEPT WOT from 60-90 it bounces off rev limiter at 90. I'll probably put it on a wide band and have it looked at, maybe it is shift points but it still seemed under powered.

That's why I've been looking for a local builder who could go through it...

or take it to toy shop, they have a tech II and can give you a proper diagnostic of whats going on. Im sure other shops can do it as well but they have a good rep.

So would George's laptop be able to tell that if I run it with the wideband?

IIRC its more of a diagnostic tool if anything. I could be wrong on what else it can do, but I know you can do a crank re-learn using. Someone else on here like Ryne or Rob may have more info on it.

some times the lock up goes out and it will feel like the trans is slipping.

Thanks Rob, will do. I'll probably end up going Toy Shop anyways and that's who you guys deal with right? Might as well just go through you guys...

If I am off tommorrow I'll try to swing by and you can tell me what you recommend doing...

I'm thinking even if it is just the converter I should probably have her gone through while she's out this time...
