The kicker is that you don't even have to plug in your iPhone anywhere, just set it in the cup holder and drive.

It says it goes off of it's accelerometer and your car's inputed weight.

guys on the BMW forum are loving that app. Numbers look good. Vehicle weight is only used to fudge a whp number.

i had the first gen iphone and now have the 3G and there isnt any difference other than the GPS and 3G network so it will work.

can you download apps and install them on the iphone? from the look of things it can only be done through itunes or directly from my phone. Im kinda working right now so if can search for it or if anybody knows if it can be done and knows how to i'm down to do it.

You would think that if it worked via GPS-type technology it would be fairly accurate.

But if it uses the accelerometer inside the iphone, I think the limitation would be in the accuracy of that technology.

On a side note, you could probably manipulate the output data by moving/pushing the iphone in your cup holder as you drove.

Just speculating here. I don't have any experience with it.
