well, I posted this before, but that post is gone....
I've owned and raised pits for the last 12 years and there are two reasons I have the ears done
1) they get ear mites easily and with the ears long, they are harder to get rid of and keep reappearing
2)the ears are very thin and can rip and tear just from them scratching an itch, causing infections and permanent scars/tears
Don't do it for looks, if you choose to do it, but being proactive towards future problems,
As for the tails, I'm not for either way, but my current Red Pit has split her tail twice in the last couple of years , wagging it too hard near a wall or doorframe.

How old is the dog? When theyre really little they dont feel it. Well, they do...but just like babies, they dont remember.
Or that's what i told myself when i just had my four newborn Silky Terrier's tails snipped.lol

i say no, its kinda cruel and limits their hearing. and their ears also help keep dirt out of the ear canal. my 3 yr old pit has them croped by his first owner and i am always having to clean his **** out(alot of dirt where i live).
