If you are worried about passing the sniffer ask if they will do a pre-inspection. If I remember correctly the pre-inspection results do not get transmitted into the DMV database and are considered unofficial. You will have to pay extra though. At least you can see where your numbers fall.

Honestly, I think there is no way in hell you'll pass the sniffer without cats.

In California, there is a simple way to pass the sniffer without cats, but why take the cats off completely, there are really good high flow cats that are legal.
The benefits of catalytic removal do not outweigh the smog headaches caused.

What REALLY baffles me, are the dudes that drive around 100% oem stock cars, and remove the catalytics for psychosomatic performance gains. In stock configuration there isn't enough back pressure at the catalytics to constitute removal.
