I would say neither. Neither will get good MPG, and neither sound like they will last long. Two old GM V8's over 100k miles are on thier last legs. TPI is probably your best bet. I had a 91' Z28, 305, TPI. Sold it with 150k miles and still ran like a champ!

Get a new Honda Fit.
![](http://www.gtchannel.com/files/mugen-fit-1.jpg)
Just think, it prolly has really neat little creature comforts.
Slam it with 13" rims (small rims are cheap $)
Go autocrossing with it on the weekends.
Looks decent and gets good gas milage.
4 doors.
lots of aftermarket goodies WILL be made for it.
Brand new car, and its cheap as fack. Very little to no maintenance for a long *** time.
But, I also drive a mazda and am a ricer.

Of course I'll vote for the thirdgen. We have quite a nice thirdgen club in SoCal too, but you're a little far north being in Visalia.
