I had a 76 in high school my dad and I picked up for 300 bucks, had the auto th275 tranny, and a 350 CI. only problem was it was in a t-bone accident in the 80's the shop that repaired it did some nasty totally unclean welds on the rear quarter, both rears had to be replaced due to rust, trunk had to be relined and pretty much replaced due to typical second gen trunk rust. So after talking with guys and getting and estimate on body work and paint then doing my interior, 8 grand to get that car all nice again. I was 17 at the time and did not have the money so after a liitle work we sold the car for what we bought it for.

Sad day, I remember every camaro guy saying go buy an ealry second gen, get rid of that crappy mid second gen. Ohh well I still love em.

Yup I am a 350 fan they are great proven engines. I really could never get into the styling of the transams, smokey and the bandit car were cool but to me the TA's are too bulky, the catfish looks better IMO but I am one of few people from what I hear these days.

hahaha yeah if its a weekend car a clutch is good, but an everyday or a drag car I am going auto, a built th400 would be fantastic, otherwise the T56 is excellent.

Lol gotcha, I am kinda debating on whether or not I want to get mine in manual, but I know I would get tired of it, so for now auto eventually I want another in manual.

hahahaha yeah I would imagine man. plus this one is gonna stay mostly stock with the exception of LT's catted y and cat back exhaust maybe pulleys and a tune with a Lid, otherwise no H/C for me.

Now in a couple years when i look into getting a project i may get another LS1 and go all out on that one, who knows.. hehe maybe I will be tempted to get that second gen and build the crap out of it.
