im looking at a 98 z28 for sale with 60k miles on it, its black with clean grey cloth int, t tops, clean body no scratches, RS body kit (which i hate), stock chrome 5 spokes with good tires, 3 owner car clean title

I'm told the motor has a forged bottom end in it from TSP, ported ls1 heads, and a Torquer V3 cam, all with under 5k miles. Has Texas Speed headers and True-duals. Still has ls1 intake manifold And is set up with a Nitrous Express wet kit but has rarely been used because there is nowhere for the owner to fill up. Made 398 rwhp through the 9"

Also has a Moser 9" rear with new detroit locker and 4.11 gears

The trans has been rebuilt, not sure to what spec though accompanied by an AEM clutch

Said he only ran it one time and went a 7.4x on street tires, not sure on the speed.

He bought the car from a friend that did all the engine work himself so there are no receipts or proof of the bottom end being done without tearing it apart.

Anyways...

What should i be looking to purchase this car for???

In talking price with him ive been going about it like a cam only car with a rear, because thats the only real stuff i can go off of. He sent me a video of the car running and it does so very well.

 

did I read this right? he's claiming a mid 7 in the 1/4 on street tires?

not on 398whp..

and if he ran it with nitrous, I can't imagine stocker wheels being wide enough to grip the power it'd take to run a mid 7.

 

im not sure im sold on the street tires either, but either way that works out to an 11.6-11.7 1/4 mile which is very believable of 398 rwhp, and remember its through a heavy 9" rear with alot of gear, so through a stock 10 bolt rear id imagine somewhere around 415 rwhp
