Default What should I pay??

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on an '01 TA. Wondering what the experts think is a fair price.

2001 Firebird Trans Am WS6
Just under 10,000 miles

- Car is in mint condition. 100% original
- Bright Red Exterior/Black leather interior
- Hurst 6 speed
- Traction control
- Optional CD player
- 1 Owner - Car Fax checks out ok
- Owner has original window sticker

What do you guys think is a decent price range for a car like this??

Thanks!
Dan

Cars with 50k are selling up to the 18 range so I would say 20k + is not out of line- but I am also one that looks at these as future collector cars- some don't.

18k is to much for one with 50k. A 50k car is in the 14k range. Id say one with 10k is in the 18k-20k range.

KBB puts an 01 TA WS6 with 10K miles at $15,520 for my zip code, so that would be the real world value of the car. The real question, however, would be what is the car worth to you personally.

I paid 18k for mine that had 13,000 miles. I'd do it 100x over again.

Seller (dealership) is asking $22,000. I just think that's high by about 4 or 5 grand. Especially given that KBB number. I will most likley keep looking as I would be ok with a car with more miles for a lower price.

I had assumed you were buying from a private seller so the number is a bit lower. If buying from a dealer in my area the value bumps a bit to $17,320. A little more but way below what the current asking price is. It wouldn't hurt to speak with the dealer to see if they would be willing to drop the price down some. Otherwise I would shop around some more to find a better deal.

I bought my '00 TA with 124K miles that was a single owner car before me in October for $8900 from a dealer so good deals can be made if you are patient enough.

Default I just bought one on 2/3/12

I bought a 2000 WS6 NBM with around 9900 miles. I would say it was in Mint condition. It did have a few well done mods (SLP full exhaust (LT headers, off road pipe, high flow cats, cat back), PRO 5.0 shifter, and lowered 2", and whisper lid). I did get stock parts for everything.

I paid 18000. I felt that I overpaid by about 1000. I did my homework and looked for a while. I think a great price (steal) would have been around 17k. The problem is that the chance to find a steal and it be local, in my mind, was rare. I justified paying a little bit more, assuming if I did find a similar car further away, I would have to get it.

I did find a 1999 Firehawk, that was higher in miles, a little cheaper, but it was 300 miles away.

The seller was off this board, and that gave me some trust that the car was well taken care.

I am very happy with my decision.

I plan on keeping for a while, and hopefully it will become a classic.

hope this helps.

People who are looking for well kept low mileage "stockers" are willing to pay more than someone looking for something just to run down the track. I have a Ranger as a daily driver and a 2000 SS in the batters box. So my low mileage T/A wont be seeing a lot of mileage anytime soon. haha.

There are premiums involved with ultra low mileage cars that price guide books (NADA, KBB) are unable to list due to rarity and other factors. These premiums can run from just over retail to $5,000+ over. It matters a great deal on the car itself, the 1 owner factor, paperwork, the actual miles (200 or 9,200), etc... Each car must be addressed separately and the buyer will have to be comfortable with his purchase. That is most important. The WS6 in question sounds like a legitimate $20,000 example. If the OP feels the price is too high, then it is not the car for him. It really is that simple and he would not be overpaying for such an example.

I agree- you can't base a low mileage example on kbb or nada. It is a guide but as others have said it really depends what it is worth to potential buyers. This is more of an emotional buy than anything else.

I may give them a call and shoot them a number. Problem is I need to add $1,200 for an airline ticket to get out there to see the car, rental car, transport cost. I so wish there was one for sale nearby. Would make things much easier...

I would NEVER buy ANY car without looking at it and driving it....no matter how much I paid for it. I wpuld need to fly out there (about $400) and rent a car to get to the dealership. The closest commercial airport is about an hour and a half away. I live half way across the country , and the car would not be registered untill Spring, so I would need to have the car shipped to my house which is about $800 give or take...

hmm, guess u misunderstood me, don't buy it until u get there, I bought my sierra in Chicago, actually about a hour and a half south, as you are, I was very skeptical about going out there, but the manager guaranteed me I will buy it when I see it that's how nice it was, and said he would buy my ticket home if I didn't buy it because of a issue with the vehicle, so I was pretty confident in the deal, then he said he would pick me up at the airport, this was hands down the best deal of my life, I went and it was mint got a temp tag and drove her 6 hours home and enjoyed the hell outta the ride
