Default considering trading for an ls1

okay guys I have a few questions. I've been strongley considering getting an ls1 for a while. I used to own a lt1 car. right now I have a dodge cummins diesel. well my friend just got his dads ls1 and is in love with my truck. we talked about traded plus cash on his side. so id have a ls1 paid off and my truck loan paid off.
the car is a 00 camaro ss slp. the body is in great condition but of course the seats are rough. no big deal. his dad has owned it for around 8 years and rebuilt.the motor. I don't have all the details yet but I no the.motor was rebuilt around 5 years ago. I can tell it has a med size cam and hooker longtube headers. the auto trans has been built. again ill have to get details first. I've driven the car and it runs great. it was his daily driver and he bought a truck and his son needed something reliable since his truck was giving him fits. so I no.its reliable car. he's owned a.couple vettes and is very knowledgable with these cars. the car does have 220k miles, but not the.engine and tranny. the rack n pinion need to be replaced and the steering colum is alittle messed up but other then that its great, ext is almost immaculate. it also has black vette wheels with decent tires. my question is does it seem like a good deal for the trade? and how much do y'all think the car is worth?
sorry for typing errors, I'm using my cell phone.
thank you

have him show the receipts for the built/rebuilt parts...its hard to say because typically 200k+ on an ls1 is nothing, but then again..its 200k miles..i would do it, these cars are amazing.

ya I've been told these are great cars and very durable and reliable. I no his dad maintaned it very well, mobile 1 oil every 3k miles, etc. like I said it was his dads everyday vehicle for a long time so I no he didn't have the extra cash to be taking a chance on breaking something all the time. idk if he would still have the reciepts, but I no he's honest, but ill have tp atleast get the details. my friend(his son) doesn't no much at all about it, just that he rebuilt the engine a while back, atleast four years ago. and everything else I could tell just from haaving some mechanical knowlege. I will say, the car is lowered, deff takes some getting used to. I'm used to a 4x4 3/4 ton truck lol. ill be taking it tomorrow.on about a 120 mile round trip so I guess ill see how it acts. I can ddrive this car quit abit because he wants to drive my truck as much as he can lol.

well my dodge is an 02 ext cab short bed 4x4 with a 5spd with 160k miles. the dash is crack and caving in and the paint is all coming off. the paint and body on the ss is immaculate, and the dash, console lid and headliner are perfect in the ss. just the seats need re done.

well since I'm eliminating my truck payment ill have the cash to set aside. I got to college and hour away from home, but I have a 4 banger s10 I use fpr that, and I'm about to buy this cheap little honda accord for gas. so the ss wont have to be a dd or sonething I rely on. if the engine needs rebuilt I can do that myself. I really wanted a m6 car, but after driving that car with a built a4 in it I don't mind it I actually like it alot

I would not recommend any car with that kind of mileage. Everything is due to break. There are so many other issues here besides the drive train. An endless 'money pit'.

well he's owned it most of its life, its been adult driven and cared for the entire time. I've heard nothing but good things about these cars. within the years of owning it I'm almost positive he's replace many suspension items. I still have to get details on thr car. like I said I only know what's been done by looking and driving the car.

They are good cars. I agree. I've owned F-bodies for 16 years now starting with a new '96 Formula. Unfortunately a car with over 200,000 miles is ready for F-body heaven or the need for serious money to be put into it. There is no getting around it. Be smart! Be careful!

well that's why I'm asking. miles on a vehicle usually don't worry me, I do my own work on then, work at an auto part store. but I'm new to these cars. the rebuilt engine had 96k mikes on it, the tranny is roughly 2 years old. the body and interior is mint except seats. yes some suspension, accesories could fail, but what else?

right and that's expecticed. I no everything doesn't last forever. the fuel pump.ill be changing soon because the sending unit.is messed up. suspension I will be.checking out and most likley be freshing up. again, due to the amount I'm paying for the car, and it leaving me with extra cash in my pocket, along with every month since I wont have a car payment I had planned on doing some things to it. most turning my attention to suspension. aside from it being lowered, id like to do new shocks, lca, phb, ill have to replace the rack n pinion, so that'll take car of that and the outter tie rods also. ill check ball joints, which I'm sure will need attention possibly soon. brakes, it has drilled and slotted rotors. with my working at an auto part store I've check into some of this. tie rods, ball joints, etc. wont run me much at all. ill try to post a pic of the car soon so y'all can check it out.
