Looking at a Mecham
Second question, I noticed in the steering, there feels like a "free" or "lose" spot (for a lack of better terms) when turning to the right. Almost like the steering wheel goes lose for a second. Does this sound like the rack and pinion possibly?
There should be little demand for any specialized car with those miles, even an expensive Mecham car. I know they are rare but the miles just kill it. No getting around it. If someone truly loves the 'package' then a slight premium might apply but certainly not much. No real collector value with 6 figures on the odometer. That is just the way it is. Do NOT overpay! $8,000 would be top $$ for a 13 year old 100,000+ miles car on the best of days. If you absolutely LOVE it, then go up to $10,000 or whatever you feel comfortable with, but not more. This could be a real 'money pit'. Be real careful with issues upfront, like that steering problem. What else?? You certainly don't want to start sinking serious money into it. If you had to sell in a hurry, you could get crunched financially. Good luck!
Just an addition: IF this car was really low mileage and in showroom condition, then the value would skyrocket. Don't mistake this car for one of those, which would sell for serious $$.
