Default 2001 ws6, with 28,000.

2001 Blue WS6. Auto, T-tops, One-owner, 28,000 miles. brand new continental tires. It's in good shape, no dings, dents or scuffs. No crashes ever. No curb rash etc.

I know the kbb prices, but what are the real world numbers?

If the car is excellent with zero issues like you said, add $2,000 - $3,000 over those KBB values. This is the 'premium' associated with a one owner, very low mileage car. It may take some time but be patient. It doesn't help that a similar 20,000 miles 2001 SS went through Barrett Jackson last week in Orange County for just $11,000 plus commsion. That doesn't help our values. Ouch!!

Thanks for your help. I am actually looking to buy that car and was hoping to get the owner back to reality with the price.

OK, I thought you owned it. What is he asking?? Is the car actually 'near mint' with no issues? I would not pay any premium for a car with faults. If his WS6 is close to perfect then you may have to pay a bit more, and it would be worth it. In my zip code a 2001 WS6 like the one you describe would be in the $14,000 neighborhood. If he wants $15,000 - $15,500 then that would be acceptable if near mint. One owner WS6 cars are just getting tougher to find and I wouldn't let $1,000 - $1,500 keep me from buying one. If there are issues, then the price goes right back to that $14,000 range, maybe even a little lower in the $13,500 area. The SS I mentioned earlier only hurts his cause. With 10% commision the actual price was $12,100. It is factual and verifiable. You can't expect to steal that WS6 for that money though. Are you close to these numbers?

They are asking 18000. The car is nice. No issues that I saw. I will be looking closer when we start talking numbers.

OK, thanks for the info. He certainly is right at the top of the 'premium' price range. That's actually a dealer retail price. Even if the car was 'near mint' and needed nothing, I feel it is too high at $18,000. If the car had 10,000 -15,000 miles, yeah, it warrants that money, but we are talking closer to 30,000 miles, still very low by every standard, but not automatically deserving of that price. It does make a difference. Obviously that $18k is his asking price, so once he realizes it won't move at $18,000 he'll bring it down eventually if he really wants to sell. I know it is tough for you but be patient. Good luck!
** This ebay listing below is an example of where the seller probably should be. This car has similar miles and is a one owner, plus it is a 2002 making it a year newer. This 2002 probably can be had for $15,500 - $16,000.

Yup, I was thinking 15000 would be fair for both sides. It's been for sale for a couple months up here, no luck. (here in the snowbelt this is a 6 month toy, and it's near past toy shopping season too)

That said, I won't let $500 or so stand in the way of the deal.

I agree 100% with your thinking. He sounds stubborn if he hasn't sold it in a few months. Must take him awhile for prices to sink in.

I paid $17500 for a one owner 02 ws6 with 20,000 miles a few months ago. And it was an auto. If you can find one like that for 14k then show I'll flip them all day long.

I don't know man, seems like you paid full retail. They pop up or decent prices with low miles...here's one local to me, 31k, one owner stock 2001 WS6:

...and that's pre negotiation

That is a good deal. However to be fair it has 12,000 more miles then the one I paid for. That alone is worth a 4 figure difference in price. Also the first 3 words words of the ad are "price just reduced" meaning the buyer probably wont go much lower on the price if any. But there are deals out there if you look hard enough. You never know how desperate a person is to sell.

Color also matters, I bet a SOM car, for example, would sell for a grand or two more.

Oh you can bet on that. SOM is probably the most diserable color there is on a ws6, and rare too.

They are stuck firm at 17,500. Wouldn't budge. I offered 15,500 which is a couple hundred over excellent kbb private party. No deal.

Back to the drawing board. I really don't want to buy one sight unseen in another state, but I may have to.

That sucks, your offer was reasonable. They may call you back to counter offer in a few days dont lose hope. Its getting harder and harder to find a 1 owner sub-30k mile WS6 and the seller clearly knows this.
