reminds me of what I just went through, I found a Trans am with 24k miles on it. Owner was an older guy in his 60's and said it was his friends and sat in a barn for a few years and didnt really drive it. everything sounded good. car was a pretty dirty, but could see through it and would be really nice cleaned up. negotiated for like 2 weeks since he wanted 11k for it. got him down to 9k and was ready to pull the trigger. Then said hmmm let me run carfax. BAM **** was stolen in 2002, then insurance bought it, then another owner and was also reported that the milage was incorrect. Wow I havent seen such a jackup carfax in a long time. So Im thanking that little carfox right now. I was just gonna flip it once cleaned as it would have been worth good money. After I told the guy about it he said he didnt know anything about it. so I sent him the carfax and never heard back lol. this is why the good ones are going up in value. they are slowly dwendling away. I just sent a 2000 formula to the crusher. they only made 442 of them that year. in black.

Sucks the guy did it I'm sure he knew about it just tried to pull the act stupid act but oh well I guess il just have too look harder Iv litterly lived on Craig's list and ls1 tech looking for a car and not too much luck yet I had my eye on a hawk but I guess a guy is buying it Friday... So il just keep looking

Living on CL and here is part of your problem. If you want a chance at a 'better' car try Autotrader and Hemmings. In my experience I have found that owners who are too cheap to pay for ads are also too cheap to maintain the very cars they own. Always trying to save a buck. Not true in every case, but many times. I'm sure there are some decent cars here and on CL but you need to expand your search.

Robbi I feel ya bro! I had like 5 tabs up all the time. Luckily I did just buy a 2000 Hawk. it was actually posted here on ls1tech too. I just got it and did my usual 12 hour detail routine and It is VERY nice. You will find somthing. If you have to pay 2-3k more for what you want just do it! It is getting harder and harder to find clean 4th gens. at the end of the day its only money and not like you are buying to sell and gonna go bankrupt. ONE thing I will say is everybodies version of "Clean" or "mint" is different. I was lucky with the car I just bought as everything the guy said and pictures was about 95% accurate

i understand im not in too much of a hurry i had a few that were good deals come around but i was too slow at going to look at them at the time i was not wanting to spend over 10k and they were really close to 10k so if i would have just went there and showed the cash i would have already found a ws6 by now. but i have my eyes on a few right now not too sure on them tho
