01 ss project car worth?

Ok so heres the deal I found a guy selling an 01 SS 100k on it has been sitting for 3yrs can pick it up for 1500$. Now for the bad needs new hood, automatic tranny, fuel pump, tires, paint, and im sure some others I missed. Now since the fuel pump is out of commission theres no way for me to even know if it runs. My main question is it worth the $ and the risk of getting completely boned on a car that my not even run?

For $1500 its worth it. It's worth more than that in parts. Just understand you'll endup have enough $$ into it you can buy a clean car. if you pass on it let me know.

That's what I was thinking just taking what I wanted for my 98 z28 and parting the rest to make some of my $ back thanks for the response

Any ideas on how I would tell if the engine was good without being able to start it?

Check oil. Drain and check for metal shavings. Put trans in neutral and grab a 22 or 24mm socket and a breaker bar and turn it over. Or if its just a bad trans bring a battery and start it with me starting fluid.

Thanks so much for the response I had no idea about the breaker bar or starting fluid method and if youre serious I will take some pics and if I end up not getting it I will pm you and give you the details.
