My initial thoughts on such a car would be $17K-$18K, even though most will probably be listed at $19K-$24K or whatever. On way to gauge this is compare it to a 2002 SS anniversary convertible (red with racing stripes) that typically fetch around $20K with 10K to 15K miles. While those cars are far more common than a '99 NBM vert they are also 3 years newer, are much more in demand, and have the more desirable 2001-2001 drivetrain upgrades. The 3 model years difference is $2K-$3K or so and $1K-$2K for the anniv model. That puts a '99 vert with 10K miles at around $15K-$17K. Figure another $1K maybe even more for only only 3500 miles....$16K to $17.5K. NBM is a decent color for '99 making up 10% of the M6 verts. Consider that 54% of them are black or red (37 NBM M6 out of 365 total M6's).
Other way to compare this car would be to say a 2001-2002 hardtop with 3500 miles. I figure the vert carries a $2K premium that is washed out by 2-3 model years. I figure an 8K to 12K mile 2002 coupe is a $16K-$17K car. Add something for the 3500 miles and you'd be around $17K to $18.5K. A black '99 WS6 M6 coupe with 3K miles was recently on Ebay and got bid up to the upper $18's. I figure the WS6 coupe brings about $2K more than the '99 SS coupe....or about the same money as a '99 SS vert.
I have seen the ad of the car you are asking about. It looks like the real deal. Still has the original air intake on the car. Comes with chrome wheels as well as the performance exhaust. In the photos the front bumper looks to be a lighter shade than the hood. It may be the lighting but I'd ask whether it was ever repainted. Since it's an orig owner car they "need" to have most/all of the original documents too.
I have a '99 SS M6 coupe that I bought from the original owner with 12K miles (now with 16K) and I figure it's a $13K to $14K car with it needing nothing (all fluids changed, new tires, AC system serviced - compressor and LP/HP lines replaced, auburn + perf exhaust). I'd give this NBM vert a $4K premium to my car ($17K to $18K).
While I think the car is worth $17K to $18K....and possibly up to $19K if it's ultra mint, it's still a '99 and doesn't command the bucks of the 2001-2002 or the WS6's. The car isn't worth $20K+ to me knowing I can buy a mint-mint 2002 SS anniversary coupe/vert for around $17.5K-$21K. The problem will be convincing the owner that the car "should" be worth in the range I mentioned. Cars with this low a mileage are pretty hard to come by too. It's their ability to hold out vs. your desire to own one. Once September hits convertible season winds down quick and time is working against then.
This black automatic 2002 SS vert with CME and only 2800 miles has been on the market for a year or two at $19,800. Sort of suggests that $20K might be around top dollar for a non-anniversary or SOM SS vert that isn't in the wrapper (ie <1K miles). And this is a 2002. Figure a 1999 is $2K-$3K less money. Don't know if there's something with that black car linked below but it "looks" filthy in the photos. An automatic 2002 SOM vert with 4K miles sold by a dealer for around $18K to $20K last year. I know because I tried to get that car. They started out at $24K and bailed out after 12-18 months.

If I personally loved the car (color, 6 speed, etc..) and the car was truly 'near mint' with no flaws, I would pay right up to $20,000. I have to allow for new tires (if the ones on the car are still the originals), changing the Dexcool and brake fluid due to age, and other minor tweaks probably needed.
Being in Germany I guess you won't be able to see it in person. I hope you have someone very reliable and trustworthy to check it out for you before purchase. Good luck if you are going for it.

As long as we're talking about low mileage '99's. This just popped up on Ebay. A 1999 Firehawk 6 speed with essentially all the SLP options ($7K SLP options list), 1 owner, and 400 miles. I give this seller credit for starting out at $20K rather than something in outer space like $30K or $35K like many sellers do. I don't see a 3500 mile '99 SS vert being worth near as much as this car. But it could be a good gauge on the most this '99 SS vert could be worth. It will be interesting to see what this bids up to. Starting bid of $20K but no idea what the reserve is. I'd have to guess this car is worth an extra $3K-$4K above a comparable WS6. The owner couldn't have had all that much fun with the car driving it for 348 miles in the first 2 years. In checking the autocheck history, it's only had 65 miles (and no fun) over the past 13 years!

Only 5 hours left as I write this. I agree with you. It just proves the limited buyer's market at prices north of $20k as we've talked about before.

The car received one bid at $20K and failed to draw a 2nd bidder to meet the reserve. Seems like a car well worth the $21K if the seller is so inclined.
