Default 00 Trans Am, is it worth this?

Hey, Im looking to buy a LS1 TA and I ran into this one at a used car lot. It has 95XXX miles on it, paint is in ok shape. A little clear coat is peeling on the left rear quarter panel. The interior is also ok. One out of the 3 AC vents in the center console is broken and so is the the passenger vent. It has one small tear on the passenger seat. The dash has that dreaded cracking right above the instrument cluster but its not bad. Ive seen way worse. I drove it for about 30 min and gave it my usual battery of tests (hard launches, hard braking, quick lane change etc) It all felt fine. It idles really smooth. AC works, the T tops dont leak. No leaks from any spots underneath. I got under the car as much as I could and didnt see any. The head lights work fine and so do the windows. They are slow but they all have been in every F body that Ive been in.

Is there anything that I should look for that is common problem with this car? Any help is appreciated. Here is the link to that car. Please advise on price also. Thanks!

Do some google searches on how to check for manual transmission/clutch, engine, and rear problems. There are some specific tests to run through to ensure everything is working fine. Rattles, knocks, clicks, bumps, whines, etc. are all clues. $8K is a lot of money for a 95K mile TA with paint issues. How many owners? How good are the tires and are they a quality brand? How often were the fluids changed (if ever)? Buying a high mileage vehicle from a used car dealer with little to no previous history presents a lot of risks. I'd rather buy a 1, 2, or 3 owner car from a the current owner where complete owner and maintenance history has been kept. $5K is seems more realistic than $7K. In my area I'd expect to get one of these with around 20K-40K miles for $8K.

Good info. Its a 1 owner car and all of the fluids that I was able to check are new. The tires are in good shape but I forgot what brand they are. Stock size, 245/xx r16. What area are you in? Im in Las Vegas and all the lower mileage cars are over 10k here in Nevada, Arizona and California. Aside from that, this was the only manual around. Every other car within the 3 states were autos. Even the autos within that mileage were right around the same price. Its a pain trying to find a M6 with less than 100,000 miles around here for under $10k

Based on your area it deserves a closer look, especially being a 1-owner car. If the orig owner put on a quality set of performance tires before selling it, another good sign....or did the used car dealer do that? Can the dealer provide some proof and maintenance history to back up that claim of 1 owner? If not, it's just their word. While the car can somewhat speak for itself, I'd want some records (Car Fax?) or the ability to talk to the original owners. I'm in Connecticut/northeast....F bodies can be great deals around here. In 2011 I was stupid and passed on a 28,000 mile Formula Firehawk M6 hardtop for only $12K from a dealer. I believe it was silver and only 1 of 4 built.

Wow, yeah I would of hopped on that. The car is completely stock and feels strong. I lost my 560whp 3V Mustang last November due to a deer and wet roads so Ive been looking to get something else. I already went the Ford route so I want to give a GM car a go. I really like the TAs over the Camaro. I might go back tomorrow and and drive it some more. The guys at the lot are easy going and not pushy so its not a hassle going back.
