Default Good Price: 01 WS6???

Although i just missed out on a 00 WS6 w/ 65K for $9K I think there may have been something shady about the deal either/or it may have been an anomoly.

I found another decent candidate and figure I would get some ball park numbers of what others thought of the car:

2001 WS6 w/ 81K miles
-missing original ws6 wheels
-Firm price of $10000

Is it worth it or should I wait?

While a lot of clean, higher 80K-100K WS6's sell in the $10K-$12K range, it doesn't mean you can't find one a bit better. The other thread has a 48K mile car for $14K where several thousand in reasonable engine, trans, clutch/trans, and rear end upgrades were done. Just on the mileage/model year difference alone these two cars are about equal...so you get the upgrades basically for free on the 2002 linked below. If it were me I wouldn't even think twice about the modified 48K mile car vs. more stock 81K mile car....assuming both drive and feel right for their mileage. This is certainly a good way to go if you're going to by a fairly stock vehicle only to modify it yourself.

The seller sounds like a PITA to deal with as he is overly concerned about being low-balled and nit-picked. Yeah, $10K is a fair price for a quality, 1-2 owner, well maintained car. But I'd prefer one in the 40K-65K range for $2K-$3K more which I think is doable. If the $10K figure is about all you want to spend then this is 80K mile car is certainly a worthwhile candidate. Seller claims it was only weekend driven. That works out to around 115 miles per weekend over 13-14 years. I guess that's possible. The seller's photos are pretty lousy. All I can tell is that there it has stock air intake on it and that the engine bay is not sandy and rusty looking from having been driven in lots of winter/rainy weather (could have been cleaned up too).

Thanks Fire.....Essentially 10K is where I make the cut for basic LS1 SS/WS6 cars do to a wide array of things (production #s, build quality, motor). At 14-15K one could reasonably buy an a midmile LS2 GTO or CTSV.

My goal was to fit into one of these bucket lists:
Basic SS/WS6 with 50-70K miles for under $10000
Limited Editions SS/Firebird (Firehawk, 35th, etc...) w/ 50-70K for under $13000
LS2 GTO/CTSV with 50-70K miles for under $15000

I have found many vehicles but for whatever reason things just havent worked out yet. But as far as basic WS6 cars go $11-12K would be my limit and it would definatley have to be around 50k miles

Thank you for the reply and I offered $9500 at the moment in that I would have about 500 in travel costs.

$10K is a very good deal on that car if it has a clean carfax. Its black and a 6spd...$$$$ all day! I would buy it for $10K in a second if it was with in a 2-3hr drive of me. You should be able to trade those wheels for a stock set...or buy stock ones and sell those to recoup your money.

Presented right and with the stock wheels back on it that's easily a $13500-$14500 car if the Carfax is clean. I sold a white 01 6spd with 84K on it two months ago for $14500...it sold the first day I had it listed.

Did I mention running a carfax on it????
