2000 NBM Camaro SS I have a 2000 Camaro SS with 56k miles. Torq thrust 2 wheels and Nitto 555 tires. Tires and rims have 2000 miles on them. Leather, t-tops, monsoon sytems. 3.23 rear end. Car is in great shape. However, it does have a salvaged title. Car was never wrecked but the motor, trans and hood were all stolen. Was replaced with a engine and tranny from a 2001 camaro. Factory GM SS hood was also purchased. Motor and tranny only have 23k miles on it. Whats a fair price to ask for this? Thanks

I think most people here will tell you the salvage title kills the car's value to the point of being no better than if it had 150K miles on it. But, I don't see it that way assuming the car wasn't butchered in removing the drive train. An orig 56K mile 2000 A4 would be arguably worth $7K to $10K this time of year. As long as this car looks nice and has a long life ahead of it no reason it's not worth $6K to $7K on a 23K miles engine/trans. If someone is going to drive the car to 150K miles it really doesn't matter so much what kind of title it has....only how serviceable the car is. A good car to mod if that was someone's desire.
Buying a car with a salvage title is a bad investment unless you plan on keeping the car long term. No matter what, that car will always be worth less than a similar car with a clean title. The thing you have going for you is that is was not salvaged due to an accident, but nevertheless, most banks won't even consider loaning money for a car with a branded title.
